Your First Visit to Englewood

Where are you located?
We are located in Gladstone Missouri, just north of the Missouri River. Please refer to Location for a map, street address, and phone number.

If you are coming from the South:
Drive north on I-35. After you cross the Missouri River exit onto Missouri Route 1/Antioch Road. Go left under the overpass and continue north on Missouri Route 1/Antioch Road. After you pass the Antioch Shopping Mall take a left on Englewood road. Go approximately 3 blocks and you will see Englewood on your right. We share a blue and yellow sign with Creative Arts Academy.

What time should I arrive?
Our School of Christian Education (our fancy name for Sunday School) begins at 9:45 a.m. You will find a list of times and description for each of our classes located on our Education page.
Our Sunday Morning worship begins at 10:45 so you will want to arrive a little before that time. When you enter you will be greeted by one of our greeters and they will offer you a worship guide. If you are a first time visitor please be sure to mention this to our greeters and they will give you a welcome packet of helpful information.

Where do I park?
Parking is located behind our buildings and there are no reserved parking spaces—so feel free to park wherever you like.

Which building do I enter?
We share our campus with Creative Arts Academy so you may wonder which buildings belong to Englewood and which ones belong to Creative Arts Academy. As you walk from the parking lot toward our buildings you will notice the first building on your right is Englewood’s Sanctuary. It has a sign labeling it "Sanctuary". The building connected to the Sanctuary by a breezeway is our Administration Building. If you are coming for worship enter in the double doors of the Sanctuary. When you enter the building a worship greeter will gladly welcome you and hand you a printed worship guide to aid you in our worship. If you are a first time visitor make sure that you do not leave without one of our welcome packets of information about our church.

What if I brought my children?
Children are welcomed to come to our preschool and children’s School of Christian Education classes beginning at 9:45. Your children are also welcomed to worship with us during the worship hour which begins at 10:45. During our worship service we usually have a Children’s Sermon/Moment for the children to participate in. After the Children’s Sermon/Moment we invite the children to join two of our children’s volunteers to go to the children’s area for a time of play and fun during worship. Your children are welcomed to stay with you during worship or join the children’s time, either way we are happy to have your little ones present with us.

Where should I sit?
Please feel welcome to sit wherever you would like, we have no reserved seating and are simply overjoyed to have you join us for worship.

What songbooks do you use?
We use two songbooks during our worship time and they will be located in front of your pew. You will notice the blue book called "The Baptist Hymnal" and the thinner black book called "The Faith We Sing". In your worship guide you will notice that the hymn numbers with three digits are located in "The Baptist Hymnal" and the hymn numbers with four digits are located in "The Faith We Sing".

What if you are serving the Lord’s Supper?
At Englewood we believe that the Lord’s Supper is a gift for everyone to enjoy. We view this special table as the Lord’s welcome table and invite you into our time of observing the Lord’s Supper. We also welcome children to participate in the Lord’s Supper. We believe that with the words "Let the little children come to me; do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs" Jesus began an affirming ministry to children. At Englewood we believe that welcoming the children to the Lord’s table is a continuation of this important ministry.

What should I wear?
We enjoy a relaxed atmosphere of worship at Englewood and hope that you will feel comfortable coming to worship just as you are. We do not have a dress code or unspoken expectations about what clothes are appropriate for worship. One Sunday you may notice someone wearing blue jeans and on another Sunday the same person may have on a dress coat. Dresses, jeans, flannel shirts, tee shirts, dress shirts...we have an assortment of dress styles in our congregation and we welcome each person just as he or she is.
